Biography

Lassana Badio is a Social Anthropologist by training. He graduated from Université Gaston Berger University in Saint Louis, Senegal where he obtained a master’s degree in development. He is trained on and has experiences in Camp Coordination and Management, Health Nutrition / Wash, Gender / Development and Human Rights, Food Security, Research / Action, Capacity Building. He has more than 20 years of professional experience in humanitarian and development in Senegal and Africa.

 

Mr Badio is currently the Co-Lead of the CCCM, NFI and Shelter Cluster for humanitarian emergencies in CAR on behalf of IOM. Prior to that, he worked in Maiduguri in Nigeria as Operations Officer in the coordination and management of camps.  Mr. Badio was in charge of training at IOM regional office in Dakar and as such, he provided training in CCCM, GBV in all countries in West Africa and presented a training module on forced displacement at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center in Accra. Since 1998 Mr. Badio has worked in several international development organizations including at Child Fund, Médicos del Mundo from Spain, and “Terre des hommes” from Lausanne. He has also held the position of program coordinator in the Senegalese government projects- the Community Nutrition Program and the National AIDS Control Program.

 

Lassana has been involved in grassroots organization for the consolidation of peace in Casamance, supervising young people and women. He is the President of the Board of Director of the NGO CASADES. He is an advocate for women and children rights, gender equality, good governance, and the inclusion of disadvantaged groups. Lassane speaks several languages including French, English, Mandingo, Pulaar and Wolof.
